Call us before leaving the house to make sure the weather conditions are good for your jump. You can eat as usual. You are advised to wear comfortable seasonal clothing and running shoes (without hooks) that you can tie securely. During colder weather, dress in layers rather than just one thick sweater.

You will be called to the training area by a staff member who will explain the steps of the tandem jump. An informative video will be presented to you. At the end of the training, the instructor will ask you to sign a waiver. By signing this document, you are confirming your knowledge and acceptance of the admission requirements. It is also important to mention if you have any known illnesses or injuries.
You will be called to the dressing area. This is where you will meet your tandem instructor. You will begin gearing up approximately 15 minutes prior to your flight’s take-off. You will be given a one-piece jumpsuit to wear over your clothes. The instructor will make all necessary adjustments to make it comfortable and safe.
You will appreciate wearing comfortable clothing under your jumpsuit. During colder temperatures, dress in layers as opposed to one heavy sweater, as it will help keep you warm. We also suggest wearing running shoes without metal hooks.
Once your suit is on, the instructor will help you put on the harness and tie all the straps. He will also assist you in properly adjusting the harness to make sure it is snug, comfortable, and secure.
You will then be advised to avoid making any adjustments to the equipment and to trust your instructor. Over 15,000 jumps are made annually at Voltige.
During the flight to altitude, you will have approximately 20 minutes to enjoy the view of Joliette in the beautiful Lanaudière region. In perfect weather conditions, you can even see Montreal. This means your jump actually includes a complimentary plane ride.
Five minutes prior to your jump, your instructor will give you a quick reminder of the key points and check your harness one last time.
The aircraft exit is one of the most thrilling moments of your jump. The door opens and your adrenaline skyrockets! If you opted for the video and picture box option, your cameraman will exit and hold on to the door in order to get the best angle when you jump. Just before the jump, you and your instructor will be placed on your knees in front of the door. Your instructor will guide you towards the exit and… You’ll freefall for 50 seconds of pure joy and adrenaline: a truly unforgettable experience! From the top altitude of 13,500 ft (4,200 m), it will take you approximately 10 seconds to reach a terminal velocity of 200 km/h. Unlike what you may expect, you will be very comfortable and fully conscious.
Once you’ve reached terminal velocity and your instructor stabilizes your position, you will feel like you are flying like a bird. Unlike what many people think, freefall does not feel like falling, because the air resistance allows you to control your position and movements. You will actually feel like you are lying on a very soft cushion.
Your instructor will make slow 360 degree turns so you can enjoy the spectacular views, usually above the clouds. Enjoy each moment and keep your eyes wide open because emotions mean time flies very quickly.
At an altitude of 5,000 ft (1,524 m), or 50 seconds after you exit the plane, your instructor will give you the signal that they are about to open the parachute.
The sensation of the parachute opening can be compared to putting on the brakes while driving.
After the freefall, you will enjoy a fantastic 5-minute flight under an open parachute. You will appreciate the gorgeous scenery of the Lanaudière region and the Assomption River. You will have never felt so free!
If you ask, your instructor can let you control the canopy and you can even execute turns. It is at this moment that the most daring get a taste of independent flight and will inquire about skydiving training.
You will land near your family and friends, who have all come to watch you jump. You will be overcome by a sense of accomplishment and power, which are the effects of adrenaline. You will never look at the sky the same way again.
Upon your return, your instructor will give you an official certificate that demonstrates your achievement. This certificate, signed by your instructor, will be necessary if you decide to take the PFF course, which requires at least one tandem jump.
A link to access the video and photos will be emailed to you on the day of your jump.
